Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur recently delved into her Marathi heritage by teaching her ‘Dacoit’ co-star Adivi Sesh some Marathi phrases and having him mimic famous Marathi movie dialogues and songs. In a video shared on social media, Mrunal is seen giving Adivi a quick Marathi lesson, teaching him words like “kay re tu?”, “chomdi”, and “ikde ye,” which he tries to repeat. She also encourages him to perform the title track of the Marathi classic ‘Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi’ and recite the iconic dialogue, “Aacharya chi baayko vedi kaay,” originally spoken by veteran actor Ashok Saraf.
The light-hearted interaction seems to have taken place on the set of their upcoming film ‘Dacoit,’ where the two actors are currently filming together. Mrunal, who comes from Maharashtra and has expressed her fondness for Marathi culture, belongs to a Maharashtrian family from Dhule. ‘Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi,’ a beloved Marathi comedy released in 1988, featured renowned actors like Ashok Saraf, Laxmikant Berde, Sachin Pilgaonkar, and Siddharth Ray, alongside Supriya Pilgaonkar and Nivedita Saraf. Even years after its release, the movie is still considered a cult favorite in Marathi cinema for its humor and exceptional performances.
Mrunal and Adivi Seshadri, the stars of ‘Dacoit,’ appear to be enjoying themselves both on and off-screen, from on-screen romance to off-screen fun. ‘Dacoit,’ which marks Shaneil Deo’s directorial debut, is a significant project produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, co-produced by Suniel Narang, and presented by Annapurna Studios. The film, shot in Hindi and Telugu simultaneously, has a story and screenplay co-crafted by Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo. ‘Dacoit’ is set for a grand pan-India theatrical release on April 10, 2026.
