In 2025, Bollywood bid farewell to several iconic figures including Dharmendra, Asrani, Manoj Kumar, and Pankaj Dheer, whose contributions left a significant mark on Indian cinema and culture. The passing of these legends has left behind a legacy of memories and milestones, creating a void in the industry as the year comes to a close.
The month of November 2025 was particularly challenging for the film fraternity. It began with concerns over veteran actor Dharmendra’s health as he was hospitalized due to breathing issues. Tragically, on November 24, the original He-Man of Bollywood, Dharmendra, passed away at the age of 89, marking the end of an era in Indian cinema.
Prior to Dharmendra’s demise, the industry mourned the loss of veteran actress and singer Sulakshana Pandit on November 7. Known for her collaborations with renowned actors like Vinod Khanna and Shashi Kapoor, her departure, along with Dharmendra’s, led to a period of collective grief in November.
October 2025 witnessed the industry saying goodbye to television personalities Karna Pankaj Dheer and Satish Kaushik, known for their roles in popular shows. Their deaths on October 15 and October 25 respectively added to the sense of loss felt by the entertainment community.
The month of September brought the shocking news of singer Zubeen Garg’s untimely demise in Singapore on September 19. Zubeen, recognized for his impactful voice in Hindi, Bengali, and Assamese music, left a void that reverberated beyond the music industry.
June 2025 was marked by the unexpected passing of Shefali Jariwala, known as Bollywood’s original ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl. Her diverse contributions to television and reality shows like Bigg Boss 13 left a lasting impact on audiences. Shefali’s death at the age of 42 left many in disbelief.
The year 2025 began with the loss of actor Mukul Dev, brother of Rahul Dev, on May 23. His absence was deeply felt by fans, especially as his film “Son Of Sardaar” released posthumously, offering a final glimpse of his talent on screen.
The somber tone for the year was set in April with the passing of legendary actor Manoj Kumar at the age of 87. Known for his patriotic roles on screen, Manoj Kumar’s extensive career in cinema left an indelible mark on the industry.
