A Bollywood song featuring Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit has been adopted by the Election Commission of India to emphasize its commitment to conducting fair and violence-free elections in West Bengal. The song, “Hum Pyar Karne Wale Duniya Se Na Darne Wale” from the movie ‘Dil’, conveys a message of fearlessness, mirroring the Commission’s resolve amidst criticisms.
The district electoral officer of Kolkata (South) shared the song online, symbolizing the Commission’s unwavering stance akin to the fearless lovebirds in the song. The message urges voters to participate without fear, warning troublemakers to be prepared for consequences from security forces to safeguard the electoral process.
In a statement accompanying the video, the DEO of Kolkata (South) encourages voters to cast their ballots freely, assuring protection against violence and intimidation during the upcoming polls in West Bengal. The message also highlights the Commission’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful voting environment by deterring disruptive elements.
Political analysts speculate that the statement indirectly alludes to the ruling Trinamool Congress due to its contentious relationship with the Election Commission regarding poll-related decisions and administrative changes.
