A bomb threat aimed at Delhi’s iconic Red Fort led to a significant security operation on Saturday. Police and security agencies conducted a thorough search of the monument following a phone call to the Mumbai Police Control Room claiming an imminent explosion at the Red Fort. Subsequently, security teams, including bomb disposal squads, swiftly sanitized and inspected the area, ultimately confirming the threat to be unfounded.
Authorities are now focused on identifying the caller and understanding the motive behind the false alarm. An investigation is underway, with legal repercussions anticipated for those responsible. This incident follows a previous high-intensity blast near the Red Fort Metro Station, which resulted in casualties and injuries, with the driver identified as Umar-un-Nabi, a Kashmiri doctor.
In a separate incident, security agencies had discovered a substantial amount of explosives in Faridabad, leading to suspicions that the recent threat was connected to these events. Notably, a recent counter-terror operation resulted in the arrest of nine individuals allegedly linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim. The arrested individuals were reportedly planning attacks on critical installations and security personnel.
