Former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai suggested uncertainty regarding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s tenure post-May 4, hinting at possible political shifts in Karnataka. Bommai mentioned Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s aspirations for the CM role, indicating upcoming changes in the state’s political landscape. Responding to queries about leadership alterations, Bommai reiterated expectations of significant political developments.
On the exit polls for five states’ Assembly elections, Bommai predicted a strong BJP performance in Assam and highlighted the potential for change in West Bengal despite challenges faced. He criticized the Karnataka government’s handling of recent rain-related incidents in Bengaluru, alleging a lack of preparedness and functionality. Bommai also highlighted the upcoming “Abhimanotsava” celebration for BJP leader Yediyurappa as a significant event signaling political transformations in Karnataka.
Amidst speculations and demands for clarity on Karnataka’s CM issue, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge affirmed that Siddaramaiah would continue in office without immediate changes. Kharge emphasized the need for collective discussions among senior party leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi for any leadership decisions. Dismissing media-driven speculations about his own candidature for the CM post, Kharge reiterated that Karnataka already has an incumbent Chief Minister and decisions are made collectively by the party’s top leadership.
