Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in Manipur, Mizoram, and Sikkim have commenced house-to-house visits as part of the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This month-long door-to-door exercise, which started on Saturday, will run until June 28. Before the fieldwork began, BLOs received comprehensive training at the district level.
After the house-to-house visits and necessary formalities are completed, the draft electoral rolls for the three states will be published on July 5. The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Manipur, Mizoram, and Sikkim has set July 1 as the qualifying date, following ECI guidelines. In the second phase, 2,956 BLOs will visit households to distribute partially filled Enumeration Forms to existing electors.
Manipur’s Chief Electoral Officer, Arun Kumar Sinha, mentioned that electors should provide the last SIR information and relevant details in the Enumeration Form. During this phase, BLOs will not collect any documents from electors. Electors also have the option to download the form, fill it out, and upload it online through the ECI portal for convenience.
