Borussia Dortmund has finalized the acquisition of Brazilian left-back Kaua Prates from Cruzeiro, a top-tier Brazilian team. The 17-year-old talent is scheduled to join the Bundesliga side for the 2026-27 season. Prates has inked a long-term contract until 2031 with Dortmund after passing his medical examination this week.
Prates, standing at 1.84 meters, began his journey at Cruzeiro’s youth academy in 2019 and debuted professionally in May 2025 at just 16 years old. He has participated in 17 matches for Cruzeiro’s senior team and contributed to Brazil’s U17 team’s victory in the South American U17 Championship last year.
Borussia Dortmund’s sporting managing director, Lars Ricken, praised Prates as an immensely promising player, highlighting his talent, ambition, and growth potential.
