Brazil Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Aloyev Bakhromjon Joraboevich arrived in New Delhi for the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, which begins on Thursday. Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Yerzahan Ashikbayev also landed in the capital earlier in the day to attend the meeting.
The BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting, scheduled for May 14-15, will be chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The meeting will see the participation of BRICS Foreign Ministers and heads of delegations from member and partner countries, who will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of BRICS member countries will discuss global and regional issues of mutual interest. The agenda includes sessions on topics such as ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability’ and reforms of global governance and the multilateral system.
India, holding the BRICS chair in 2026, focuses on the theme of ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,’ echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision outlined at the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 2025. The BRICS grouping evolved from BRIC, with South Africa joining in 2010 to form BRICS.
