The BRICS nations have agreed to enhance cooperation, promote innovation, and develop a more robust and sustainable MSME ecosystem. The meeting, held in Agra over the weekend and hosted by India, aimed to foster collaboration among BRICS countries and enhance the resilience and innovation of MSMEs.
The BRICS MSME Forum’s inaugural session was a significant milestone in boosting cooperation among member nations and nurturing a resilient and innovative MSME ecosystem. The event brought together policymakers, government officials, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from various BRICS member and partner countries, including Brazil, China, Russia, and South Africa.
The program kicked off with an exhibition showcasing the diversity and excellence of MSMEs across different sectors. Discussions during the Third SME Working Group Meeting focused on the theme ‘Building MSME Ecosystem – Sustainable Roots to Global Routes,’ where member countries shared experiences and policy interventions to strengthen MSME ecosystems.
Two parallel sessions were conducted, with the first involving private sector stakeholders from BRICS member countries and the second being the 3rd SME working group meeting. Union Minister for MSMEs Jitan Ram Manjhi emphasized the crucial role of MSMEs in driving economic growth, innovation, and employment across BRICS nations and the Global South.
