The National Security Advisors (NSAs) and senior security officials from BRICS countries met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi after the 16th BRICS National Security Advisers’ Meeting. PM Modi emphasized the importance of BRICS in enhancing security cooperation and addressing common challenges like terrorism and cyber security. The meeting focused on discussing security challenges, including energy security, food security, cyber security, and climate-induced instability.
The leaders also reviewed the outcomes of the ‘BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism’ and ‘Security in the use of Information and Communication Technologies.’ They pledged to strengthen cooperation among BRICS members, enhance information sharing, and coordinate efforts to combat terrorism and cyber risks collectively. The officials expressed their support for India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026 under the theme ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.’
After the meeting, the NSAs and heads of delegation had a joint call-on with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss further collaboration and initiatives. The focus remains on advancing practical cooperation, supporting the priorities of the Global South, and contributing to a safer and more inclusive world through BRICS initiatives.
