Several British parliamentarians have raised alarm over the escalating turmoil in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Pakistani security forces have reportedly engaged in a harsh crackdown, resulting in numerous civilian casualties amid a strict lockdown and communication blackout in the region.
Addressing the British Parliament, Bob Blackman, the leader of the United Kingdom Conservative Party, condemned the violent actions of Pakistani security forces in PoK. He highlighted the deaths and injuries, including those of British nationals, during the crackdown on peaceful demonstrators.
In a parliamentary debate, UK lawmaker Imran Hussain expressed deep worry over the ongoing violence, arbitrary arrests, and communication restrictions in PoK. He emphasized the alarming reports of limited access to food and medical supplies in certain areas of the region.
Hussain called for an immediate end to the lockdown and communication blackout in PoK. He urged the British government to directly appeal to the Prime Minister of Pakistan and PoK authorities to resolve the crisis swiftly, emphasizing the importance of respecting the human rights of Kashmiris in the region.
