The brother of Ankit Sharma, a late Intelligence Bureau official, expressed his feelings after the court convicted former AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain and four others for Ankit’s murder during the 2020 northeast Delhi riots. Ankur Sharma, Ankit’s brother, emphasized that while the verdict is a step towards justice, the family’s loss remains irreplaceable as Ankit is no longer with them.
Ankur Sharma, in a statement following the court’s decision, shared the family’s ongoing struggle with the pain of losing Ankit, who was on duty when he was killed. He stressed the importance of his brother receiving justice, stating, “We are not happy, as my brother is not with us; all I wish is that my brother should get justice.”
Reflecting on the tragic circumstances of Ankit’s death, Ankur Sharma expressed his hope that such incidents should never occur again, emphasizing the need for justice and accountability. He acknowledged the court’s ruling as significant progress but highlighted that no legal outcome can alleviate the profound grief and loss experienced by the family.
The court’s decision to convict Tahir Hussain and four others for Ankit Sharma’s murder was a notable development in the case related to the 2020 northeast Delhi riots. Tahir Hussain, who faced charges including promoting enmity, rioting, assault, use of criminal force, and murder, was found guilty by the Karkardooma Court. Additionally, the court convicted Javed, Anas, Nazim, and Kasim for their involvement in Sharma’s killing.
Despite the court’s verdict, Ankur Sharma emphasized that the family continues to seek complete justice for Ankit, underscoring their inability to overcome the tragedy and their unwavering pursuit of justice for Ankit, who was serving the nation at the time of his death.
