A quantity of brown sugar was confiscated in Srinagar, leading to the arrest of two individuals, as per the police statement on Friday. The seizure of 14 grams of brown sugar occurred during a routine check at a checkpost by the Kralkhud Police Station. The arrested individuals were identified as Rayees Ahmad Dar, also known as Rayees Bandaar, and Abish Imtiyaz Bhat, both residents of the Barbarshah area in Srinagar.

Further investigation into the case has been initiated, with an FIR registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Kralkhud Police Station. The vehicle used by the accused during the interception has also been confiscated for investigative purposes. The police are actively pursuing leads to determine the source of the contraband and any potential connections to the local narcotics supply chain.

J&K Police and security forces are intensifying efforts against drug-related crimes, including smuggling and financial irregularities. The authorities suspect that proceeds from such illegal activities are channeled into supporting terrorist operations. In combating drug-related offenses, law enforcement not only apprehends offenders but also seizes assets acquired through illicit means, following due legal processes.
