Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister T. Harish Rao criticized the Congress leadership’s review of the Telangana government’s performance in Delhi, considering it an insult to the state’s pride and self-governance. Rao expressed in an open letter to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) that the review by central leadership was not just an administrative process but raised concerns about the state’s autonomy and self-respect. Telangana, formed after a significant movement focused on self-rule and political accountability, was not intended to be controlled from a distant center but to be governed by leaders accountable to its people.
Harish Rao emphasized the importance of governance being answerable to the people of Telangana, as advocated by former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He highlighted a growing perception that the current Telangana Congress leadership prioritizes the party high command in Delhi over the state’s residents. Rao pointed out that promises made by the Congress government, such as financial aid for farmers and employment schemes, had not been fully realized, leading to dissatisfaction among the public.
Rao also raised concerns about unfulfilled commitments to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, citing delays in the implementation of various welfare schemes and reservations. He urged the AICC to fulfill the promises made to the people of Telangana without delay or compromise, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency in governance.
