BRS leader T. Harish Rao has urged Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy to initiate a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities at Singareni Collieries Company Limited. Rao highlighted concerns over policy changes, contract cancellations, and the silence of Central government-nominated Directors, suggesting possible financial losses to the public sector undertaking.
Rao pointed out the introduction of a new “Site Visit Certificate” requirement by SCCL after the change in Telangana’s government, leading to the cancellation of competitive tenders and subsequent contract awards at significantly higher rates. This departure from established norms has raised suspicions of deliberate manipulation and financial harm to SCCL.
The former minister also criticized the shift in diesel procurement practices at Singareni, alleging increased project costs, GST burdens, and potential conflicts of interest. Rao emphasized the need for a CBI inquiry to examine the legality and implications of these changes, including possible collusion among various stakeholders and officials.
