Ahead of the upcoming two-month-long pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine, the Border Security Force (BSF) Director General (DG) inspected the preparations for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY). The pilgrimage is scheduled to commence on July 3, with officials confirming the completion of all necessary arrangements for a smooth and successful journey.
BSF DG Praveen Kumar, along with senior officials, visited key locations along the Yatra route to evaluate operational readiness, including disaster response, medical aid for pilgrims, and anti-sabotage measures. Emphasis was placed on coordination with other security forces and civil authorities to ensure a safe pilgrimage experience for all devotees.
In a recent dry trial run conducted along the yatra route, security personnel assessed security measures, convoy movements, and overall preparedness before the official start of the pilgrimage. Meanwhile, in Jammu, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the National Security Guard (NSG), carried out a joint counter-terror mock drill at the historic Raghunath Mandir.
The drill simulated a high-risk terrorist attack scenario, testing the response capabilities of security agencies through rapid intervention, area control, hostage rescue, casualty evacuation, and coordinated operations. This exercise highlighted the seamless coordination among SOG Jammu, NSG, and other security agencies. Token distribution for the annual Yatra commenced at the Tawi River Front in Jammu city, with 1,600 tokens issued to facilitate registration for pilgrims.
