At least 40 people lost their lives, and eight others sustained injuries when a bus plunged into a ravine on the Sherani–Zhob highway near the border of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces in Pakistan. The bus, en route from Quetta to Peshawar, was carrying 48 passengers when the tragic incident occurred. Rescue operations were promptly initiated, with injured passengers receiving medical aid before being transferred to a nearby hospital.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. This unfortunate event follows a recent incident in May where 16 individuals were killed and seven injured in a collision between a passenger coach and a parked bus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Similarly, in another tragic occurrence, five people lost their lives, and ten were injured when a passenger van veered off a cliff in Swat’s Charbagh tehsil during a wedding trip.
Rescue teams, emergency services, and local authorities are actively engaged in providing support to the affected passengers and families of the victims. The collaborative efforts aim to ensure necessary assistance and care for those impacted by the bus accident and subsequent incidents.
