The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the green light for the development of general pool residential housing in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 1,234.91 crores. The project, funded by the Government of India, falls under the Capital Outlay on Housing.
This initiative, managed by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs through the Central Public Works Department, aims to ease the financial burden on Central government employees by providing suitable residential spaces. It is designed to enhance their well-being and efficiency by enabling proximity to workplaces.
The General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Campus in Amaravati will span 17 acres and feature 11 residential towers with a total of 1,504 dwelling units. The project includes basement parking for 1,972 Equivalent Car Spaces (ECS) and boasts a total built-up area of 31.30 lakh square feet.
In line with global trends promoting sustainable construction practices, the GPRA Campus in Amaravati will prioritize green building standards to minimize environmental impact. The project is set to achieve a minimum GRIHA 4-Star Rating and comply with energy conservation codes.
The residential campus will not only offer housing but also essential civic amenities such as banking services, post office, community hall, food court, and facilities catering to persons with disabilities. It is expected to create significant employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases.
