In a significant move, Siddaramaiah, the caretaker Chief Minister, has scheduled a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on Saturday amidst the ongoing political changes post his resignation. The meeting aims to select a new leader for the CLP, who is anticipated to be the party’s choice for the Chief Minister’s role.
The CLP gathering is set to commence at 4 P.M. at the Conference Hall of Vidhana Soudha, with Siddaramaiah, the current CLP Leader, presiding over the session. Key figures including Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D.K. Shivakumar and AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala will attend the meeting.
Notably, the announcement was made by Allamaprabhu Patil, MLA and Secretary of the Congress Legislature Party. The meeting will be attended by Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs), Lok Sabha members, and Rajya Sabha members as well.
Siddaramaiah, after meetings in Delhi with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, is expected to return to Bengaluru’s HAL Airport today. Before leaving Delhi, he shared a meal with D.K. Shivakumar, Congress MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, and former minister K.H. Muniyappa.
Additionally, Siddaramaiah had discussions with AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal and met with D.K. Shivakumar and former minister K.J. George. Meanwhile, Karnataka Minister H.K. Patil suggested that D.K. Shivakumar is likely to be the next Chief Minister and may take the oath in the next two days.
