A case of sexual exploitation and blackmail has been revealed in Mathura’s Govardhan area, where a man pretending to be a ‘sadhu’ targeted educated young women through online religious events. The accused, a qualified mechanical engineer named Abhishek Mishra, allegedly used spiritual gatherings to lure women, administer intoxicants, sexually assault them, and then blackmail them with compromising photos and videos.
The incident came to light when the sister of a victim, a B.Sc. Nursing student from Chhattisgarh, reported the matter to the police. The victim had visited Mathura to celebrate her birthday with her sister, who was interning at IOCL and living in a house owned by the accused. Mishra, also known as Adhikarta Narayan Das, allegedly exploited several women using a similar method, leading to a broader investigation by the authorities.
Abhishek Mishra, an IIT Roorkee graduate, had been residing in Radhakund, Govardhan, where he allegedly used his spiritual persona to target women with high-paying jobs. He would invite them to his residence, drug them, sexually abuse them, and then blackmail them for money. The accused, who also facilitated informal marriages, was arrested by the police, who are now probing for more potential victims and the extent of his activities.
