More than Rs 1.10 crore in cash, one kg of gold ornaments, and property documents were discovered during raids by Telangana ACB on locations associated with an official of Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board. The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials searched eight places connected to S.L. Kumar, the General Manager of HMWSSB, Red Hills, based on allegations of owning assets beyond known income sources. Among the findings were Rs 1.1 crore cash, about one kg of gold ornaments, 2.5 kg of silver items, and documents related to prime properties.
Officials suspect that Kumar possesses assets valued at nearly Rs 100 crore, including three flats in gated communities in Hyderabad, six open plots, and three acres of agricultural land in Nizamabad district. The searches, which began early in the morning, covered Kumar’s residence and other linked premises in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Nizamabad districts. The ACB officials have detained Kumar for questioning to gather more information about his assets, including examining bank lockers.
In a separate case from last December, the ACB revealed assets worth over Rs 100 crore allegedly amassed by an official of the Telangana transport department. Mood Kishan, Deputy Transport Commissioner in Mahabubnagar district, faced a case of disproportionate assets. Despite the document value of his properties being Rs 12.72 crore, their actual market worth is estimated to exceed Rs 100 crore, with a 31-acre agricultural land near Hyderabad alone valued at over Rs 60 crore.
