The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has approved the release of director Dayal Padmanabhan’s period crime drama ‘Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku’ starring actor Vetri with a U/A certificate. The film, set to hit theaters on July 10, 2026, delves into real-life incidents from 1972, focusing on a prisoner on death row reflecting on his past before execution. The production house 2M Cinemas shared the news on social media, highlighting the film’s genre as a period crime thriller.
Director Dayal Padmanabhan clarified that the movie is not related to the Lakshmikanthan murder case involving film stars from the past. The film features Vetri as Arivumathi, Rangaraj Pandey as Sivanandham, Brigida as Mallika, and Saravanan as Sargunam, among other talented actors.
The visually captivating film, complemented by Darbuka Siva’s musical score, has garnered praise since its first look launch by filmmaker Vetrimaran. With a strong technical team including screenplay by Kavitha Bharathi, cinematography by M V Paneerselvam, and music by Darbuka Siva, ‘Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku’ promises an engaging cinematic experience. The director expressed gratitude for the team’s dedication and support throughout the project.
