The Central Bureau of Investigation apprehended an Assistant Vigilance Officer and a multi-tasking staff member from the Delhi Development Authority for involvement in a bribery incident. The arrests took place on May 18, 2026, after a successful trap operation orchestrated by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Following a complaint filed by a former Deputy Director of the Delhi Development Authority, the Central Bureau of Investigation initiated a case against the Assistant Vigilance Officer. The allegation was that the officer solicited a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to provide a favorable response to the complainant’s parent department in an ongoing vigilance issue.
During negotiations, the accused agreed to accept Rs 3 lakh as an undue advantage. The Central Bureau of Investigation conducted a trap on the same day and apprehended the Assistant Vigilance Officer while receiving Rs 50,000 through the multi-tasking staff member as part payment of the total bribe amount.
Both individuals involved have been taken into custody, and further investigations are in progress. This incident underscores the Central Bureau of Investigation’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption within public organizations, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to eradicating malpractice in government departments.
