The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended a sub-registrar from the Delhi government’s revenue department and a private individual for accepting an Rs 80,000 bribe to process property documents. Nand Kishore Meena, the Sub-Registrar at Punjabi Bagh, Nangloi, and Subhash Gandhi were caught in a CBI trap on Friday. The CBI initiated the case following a complaint that the sub-registrar demanded Rs 1 lakh as a bribe to execute a gift deed.
In a separate incident in Jammu and Kashmir, the CBI disclosed the arrest of an Assistant Engineer linked to the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in a bribery case. The accused, Liyakat Javed Sheikh, allegedly solicited an illicit payment from a resident to facilitate compensation release for damage during a PMGSY road construction project. The CBI investigation revealed that the demand was negotiated down to Rs 30,000 from an initial Rs 50,000.
The CBI emphasized its resolute stance against corrupt public officials, affirming its dedication to combating corruption.
