The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced the arrest of three forest department employees in Budgam district, Jammu and Kashmir, on corruption charges. The arrested individuals consist of two Forest Department officials and a casual laborer from the same department. Specifically, the arrested persons are Ranger Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Forester Manzoor Ahmad Dar, and casual laborer Bashir Ahmad Ganie.
These arrests were made in connection with FIR No. 05/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station CBI, Kashmir. Notably, a CBI team conducted a successful operation in the Beerwah area of Budgam district, capturing Bashir Ahmad Ganie red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
The CBI’s investigation was prompted by allegations of illicit demands for gratification, with ongoing efforts to delve deeper into the matter. The union territory houses its own Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) with a mandate to combat corruption among government officials.
