The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended two additional suspects in connection with the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, bringing the total number of arrests to seven. The newly detained individuals are Dhananjay Lokhanda from Ahilyanagar and Manisha Waghmare from Pune, both in Maharashtra. These arrests were made during extensive searches at 14 locations nationwide over the last 24 hours as part of the ongoing probe into the examination malpractice.
In a related development, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has remanded the five previously arrested individuals in the case to seven days of CBI custody for further interrogation. The CBI initiated the case on May 12, 2026, based on a complaint filed by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education regarding the alleged leakage of the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper.
The agency had earlier apprehended five suspects from various parts of the country, including three from Jaipur, one from Gurugram, and another from Nashik. Special teams of the CBI have been conducting coordinated raids and searches since May 12 to track down the wider network allegedly involved in the paper leak and associated irregularities. Multiple suspects are currently under interrogation, and the CBI is taking further action based on the evidence collected.
Officials emphasized that the CBI is diligently pursuing all leads to uncover the full scope of the alleged racket and identify all individuals linked to the case. The agency reaffirmed its dedication to conducting a thorough, unbiased, and professional investigation to ensure stringent action against those implicated in the purported paper leak conspiracy.
