The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against an MCD junior engineer and his associate for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a contractor involved in constructing a building in the Walled City. The complaint, filed by builder Aziz Ahmed, accused the junior engineer, Navdeep Khatri, and his aide, Lokesh, of pressuring for the bribe under threat of demolition and sealing of the premises.
Aziz Ahmed’s written complaint to the CBI detailed how Lokesh, the aide, visited the construction site and demanded the bribe, leading to the investigation agency taking action against the MCD JE and the aide in question. The property owner, Matloob Hussain, supported the complaint and authorized the builder to seek a CBI inquiry into the alleged bribery demands.
The CBI, after verifying the complaint, found evidence suggesting corrupt practices by the MCD junior engineer and his aide. The complaint verification report recommended the registration of a case against Navdeep Khatri and Lokesh under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act-1988. Following this, the CBI registered an FIR (RC0032026A0029) under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Ashok Mishra.
