CBI Holds Meeting with Financial Services Department and Banks on Bank Fraud Investigations

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a coordination meeting with the Department of Financial Services (DFS) and Chief Vigilance Officers of public sector banks, IDBI Bank, and Life Insurance Corporation of India in New Delhi. The meeting aimed to expedite investigations into bank fraud cases. Various issues such as approvals, pending documents, and recent court judgments were discussed during the meeting.

Officials including the Department of Financial Services Secretary Sanjay Lohiya and CBI Additional Directors A.Y.V. Krishna and N. Venu Gopal participated in the day-long meeting. The agenda focused on enhancing interdepartmental cooperation to speed up investigations related to bank fraud cases. Detailed presentations were given by the CBI and public sector banks on operational matters to facilitate the exchange of case-specific details.

Efforts were made to streamline procedures and promote proactive cooperation between banks and the CBI. The meeting emphasized the need for timely sharing of required documents and maintaining the current momentum of cooperation to ensure the timely completion of investigations. Close coordination between the CBI and public sector banks was underscored to overcome procedural bottlenecks and resolve pending issues.
