In a significant development in the case of actress Twisha Sharma’s mysterious death, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has requested the Bhopal District Court’s approval to interview key witnesses. The application filed by the CBI aims to record statements from relatives and friends of retired Judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh.
Advocate Anurag Srivastava, representing Twisha Sharma’s family, mentioned that the CBI’s request includes individuals associated with Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh. The agency’s objective is to establish a detailed sequence of events through direct testimonies.
During the court session, the CBI updated that all digital data and physical evidence seized have been sent for forensic analysis. Additionally, the agency indicated that it might seek extended custody of Giribala and Samarth Singh once witness statements and the second post-mortem report are obtained.
The CBI informed the court that following the recording of witness and relative statements and the receipt of the second post-mortem report, it may request an extension of custody for the accused duo. Giribala and Samarth were remanded to 14 days of judicial custody after the CBI did not push for an extension of police remand.
Giribala, a former judge, requested special protection in Bhopal Central Jail due to her past judgments leading to the conviction of several individuals now incarcerated there. The court granted her request, directing jail authorities to ensure her safety within the facility.
Pending forensic results and pending witness testimonies, the CBI stated that it would approach the court if further custodial interrogation of the accused becomes necessary. Both Giribala and Samarth will remain in judicial custody until the investigation progresses.
