The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained Abdul Alim Molla in connection with the attempted murder of Bhola Ghosh, a crucial witness in the case involving Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan. Last month, Bhola Ghosh was involved in a fatal road accident near Boyarmari petrol pump in North 24 Parganas district, raising suspicions of a deliberate attack. Abdul Alim Molla, the prime accused and truck driver in the incident, was arrested by the police.
The CBI sought custody of Abdul Alim Molla from a court in Basirhat following his arrest. Officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had faced an attack at Sheikh Shahjahan’s residence in 2024 during a search related to a ration distribution scam case. The Calcutta High Court instructed the CBI to investigate the matter, leading to Alim Molla being summoned multiple times for questioning.
Alim Molla, believed to be closely associated with Sheikh Shahjahan, was allegedly involved in the assault on ED officials. The CBI detained him for further interrogation in connection with the incident. Investigators suspect Alim Molla’s involvement as a key conspirator in the attempted murder of Bhola Ghosh, a significant witness against Sheikh Shahjahan in the Sandeshkhali area case. Several individuals linked to Sheikh Shahjahan were arrested by the police post the fatal accident.
