The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially taken charge of the investigation into the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) handed over all case-related documents, electronic evidence, and details of the accused to the CBI. The CBI has registered an FIR and will now lead the investigation, involving charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The NEET-UG 2026 examination, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 3, 2026, faced allegations of confidential exam-related documents being circulated illegally before the test. Around 15 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case after continuous raids in various districts. The accused are expected to be questioned in Delhi regarding the exam paper leak network.
Investigations revealed that students allegedly received a “guess paper” containing questions worth nearly 600 marks out of 720 marks in the NEET examination. The leaked material reportedly included over 300 questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The investigation also uncovered the distribution chain of the leaked material, involving students in different districts.
Officials suspect that the leaked question bank was initially sent by an MBBS student to a friend, leading to its circulation among students. Following complaints and initial investigations, arrests were made, and coaching centers are under scrutiny. The case has raised concerns about the integrity of the examination process and the need for stringent measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
