The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has announced its intention to appeal before the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court’s decision to grant bail to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was convicted in the Unnao rape case. The High Court not only suspended Sengar’s sentence but also allowed him bail, sparking strong opposition from both the CBI and the victim’s family.
CBI officials have thoroughly reviewed the High Court’s ruling and are prepared to file a Special Leave Petition (SLP) with the Supreme Court promptly. They emphasized their vigorous opposition to Sengar’s bail plea in the High Court, stressing the gravity of the case and the risks associated with granting bail.
The victim’s family has vehemently opposed Sengar’s bail, citing concerns for their safety and the potential threat his release poses. They fear that his freedom could endanger their lives and further delay the pursuit of justice in a case that has garnered significant public attention due to its sensitive nature.
