The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the Class 12 board exam results, revealing an 85.20% pass rate. This year saw a notable decrease in pass percentage compared to the previous year. The current academic session’s pass rate dropped by 3.19% to 85.20%, prompting a closer look at the reasons behind this decline.
A total of 1,780,365 students registered for the Class 12 exams in 2026, with 1,768,968 students appearing for the tests. Out of these, 1,507,109 students successfully passed. The CBSE board introduced digital evaluation for the first time, marking a significant shift in the assessment process.
Girls outperformed boys in the Class 12 results, both in terms of pass percentage and overall performance. Girls achieved a pass rate of 88.86%, surpassing boys whose pass rate was 82.13%, giving girls a lead of 6.73%. In regional performance, students from the Delhi zone excelled above the national average.
The Delhi West region achieved a pass percentage of 92.34%, while the Delhi East region recorded 91.73%. A total of 301,977 students from the Delhi zone registered for the Class 12 exams, with 300,732 students appearing and 276,583 passing. The Class 12 exams were held from February 17 to April 10, 2026, across 19,967 schools and 7,573 examination centers nationwide.
The CBSE implemented an ‘On-Screen Marking’ system for the 2026 Class 12 exams, marking a significant change in the evaluation process. This move aimed to enhance the assessment methodology and efficiency.
