The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has refuted claims made by Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi about impropriety in a contract with an education technology company. CBSE stated that the contract was awarded following proper protocols and procedures. Rahul Gandhi, in response, criticized the denial as insufficient and demanded answers from the Education Minister and CBSE.
Rahul Gandhi had alleged discrepancies in CBSE exam results and raised concerns about the involvement of the EdTech company Coempt Edu Teck, previously known as Globarena. He questioned the decision to award the contract to Coempt, the oversight in background checks, and the connection between the company’s management and the government. Gandhi called for an independent inquiry to uncover the truth behind the alleged scam.
The controversy arose after issues were raised regarding the digital evaluation system used by CBSE for exams like NEET. A student, Vedant Shrivastava, highlighted discrepancies in his marks and evaluation transparency. CBSE acknowledged an error in its evaluation system after providing Shrivastava with the wrong answer sheet initially. This incident has led to broader discussions on the reliability and fairness of CBSE’s digital evaluation process.
