Actress Celina Jaitly, amidst a legal battle with her estranged husband Peter Haag, has received two legal notices from her father-in-law, Dr. Wolfgang J. Haag, and Peter Haag. The notices allege that despite the ongoing judicial process in Austria concerning matrimonial and child custody issues, there have been unverified and defamatory statements made against Peter Haag and the Haag family in public statements, interviews, social media, and media publications.
The notices express concern about the impact of this publicity on the three minor children involved. Emphasizing the need for privacy and sensitivity in matters concerning children, they urge for the immediate cessation of defamatory publications, removal of offending content, a public clarification, an unconditional apology, and a restraint on further statements regarding the ongoing legal proceedings and the children.
Solicitor Yesha Shah, Partner at Semwal & Co., highlighted the importance of laws protecting women and the need to avoid converting matrimonial disputes into public media trials. Shah emphasized that legal remedies should serve justice and protection, not public vilification or reputational harm.
In case of non-compliance with the demands in the notices, the parties reserve the right to pursue civil and criminal actions, including claims for damages, compensation, and injunctive relief in the appropriate courts. Celina married Peter Haag in 2010, and they have children together. In 2017, Celina gave birth to twins, but tragically lost one due to a heart condition. In 2025, Celina filed a case against Peter, alleging domestic violence.
