The Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India initiated a public outreach campaign in Delhi for the ongoing Houselisting and Housing Census (HLO) by flagging off six awareness vans. These vans, starting from Janganana Bhawan, will traverse Delhi NCT to spread messages on Census participation, Self-Enumeration (SE), key features of Census 2027, and the significance of public cooperation with enumerators during field visits. The campaign’s goal is to enhance public awareness, ensure wider information dissemination, and facilitate the smooth execution of Census operations in the National Capital Territory.
The Houselisting and Housing Census operations (HLO) are currently in progress in Delhi NCT. In the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Cantonment Board areas, house-to-house visits by Census enumerators began on April 16 after the completion of HLO Self Enumeration (SE) on April 15 and will continue until May 15. Self-Enumeration (SE) is also ongoing in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) areas of Delhi NCT.
Residents in Delhi NCT can undertake Self-Enumeration (SE) through the official Census portal from May 1 to May 15. Subsequently, enumerators will conduct house-to-house Houselisting Operations from May 16 to June 14. Those who have completed Self-Enumeration (SE) are advised to retain their Self-Enumeration ID (SE ID) and provide it to the Enumerator during the field visit to finalize the HLO process.
Introduced in Census 2027, the Self-Enumeration (SE) facility has garnered positive feedback from the public, with approximately 92 lakh households across 23 States and Union Territories completing Self-Enumeration (SE) via the official portal. The HLO Phase of Census 2027 involves gathering information through a structured questionnaire encompassing 33 questions related to household details, housing conditions, available amenities, and household assets. This data serves as a crucial foundation for government planning, policy-making, and efficient delivery of public services.
Self-Enumeration is also currently underway for Telangana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi (MCD), Maharashtra, Meghalaya, and Jharkhand. Enumerators are conducting house-to-house visits in various states and union territories as per the notified schedule, including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Delhi (NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board areas), Goa, Haryana, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Odisha, Sikkim, and Uttarakhand.
