Shiv Ratan Agarwal, the Chairman and Managing Director of Bikaji Foods International, passed away in Chennai at the age of 74 after suffering a heart attack. Agarwal, who was in the city with his family for his wife’s medical treatment, fell ill around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday.
His wife, who had recently undergone a heart bypass surgery and was advised rest, was recovering in a hotel in Chennai. Agarwal was rushed to a private hospital as his condition worsened, where he was pronounced dead by doctors. Agarwal was known for establishing the Bikaji brand in Bikaner, which grew to become a prominent packaged snack company in India.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his condolences on Agarwal’s passing. Gehlot described Agarwal as a renowned industrialist who brought fame to Bikaner’s Bhujia through the Bikaji brand. He prayed for peace for Agarwal’s soul and strength for his grieving family.
