The Chandigarh administration took action on Tuesday by sealing Sago, a nightclub in Sector-26 owned by rapper-singer Badshah, due to building violations. Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav stated that despite multiple opportunities to address the violations, the club failed to comply with the directives of the Estate Office. Authorities had issued a showcause notice to the club’s occupants on April 25 following inspections that revealed unauthorized alterations in the building.
Officials discovered unauthorized construction of cabins, partitions, toilets, a kitchen, and a cold store within the premises. Badshah had previously faced scrutiny when the Haryana State Commission for Women directed the state police to arrest him for not appearing before the panel in Panipat regarding his Haryanvi track “Tateeree.” Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia emphasized that the artist would face consequences if he did not cooperate, barring him from performing in Haryana without meeting the commission’s requirements.
The controversy stemmed from the music video for “Tateeree,” released on Badshah’s YouTube channel, which depicted girls in school uniforms dancing in a Haryana Roadways bus with gestures deemed objectionable by critics. Allegations against the song included the use of inappropriate language and sexualized content that demeaned women and minors. The Haryana State Commission for Women had summoned Badshah for questioning in response to the complaints.
