Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is facing uncertainty at Stamford Bridge due to the team’s recent poor performance in the Premier League 2025-26 season. With only one win in their last seven games, Chelsea has dropped to fifth place in the league standings.
During a recent match at Stamford Bridge against the Cherries, Chelsea missed another opportunity for a victory, ending in a 2-2 draw. Following the game, Maresca, who was feeling unwell, decided to skip the post-match press conference.
Reports suggest that Chelsea will hold emergency discussions at the start of the new year regarding Maresca’s position as manager. It is anticipated that Maresca, who faced criticism from fans after the disappointing draw with Bournemouth, may not lead the team in their upcoming match against Manchester City.
Maresca, who took over as Chelsea manager in July 2024, is reportedly considering leaving the club. However, it remains uncertain whether he will depart without a financial settlement, as his contract extends until 2029, with a possible one-year extension option.
Under Maresca’s leadership, Chelsea has participated in 92 matches, achieving 55 victories. His tenure saw Chelsea secure the UEFA Conference League title in May 2025, making them the only team to win all three main UEFA competitions. Additionally, in July 2025, Chelsea emerged victorious in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final.
