Five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings face a setback in the ongoing IPL 2026 season as fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed is out due to a quadricep injury. The injury occurred during a match against KKR, forcing Khaleel to leave the field.
Khaleel Ahmed, aged 28, had to exit the game after experiencing discomfort in his right leg during the match against KKR. The injury, which includes tears in the quadriceps, might necessitate surgery.
Khaleel’s absence poses a challenge for CSK’s pace attack in the IPL 2026. The team is already missing MS Dhoni due to a calf injury and Spencer Johnson due to a back stress fracture.
As the IPL season progresses, CSK will have to find alternatives to fill Khaleel’s spot in the lineup. Mukesh Choudhary and Ramakrishna Ghosh are potential replacements, with Choudhary offering a similar left-arm option and Ghosh bringing value as a lower-order batsman.
CSK, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, with two wins from five matches, is set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their upcoming match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
