In a move to enhance business operations and tax regulations, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, has endorsed significant changes in GST and VAT laws, along with various pro-industry initiatives.
The Cabinet’s recent meeting resulted in 11 pivotal resolutions aimed at benefiting taxpayers, investors, industries, and the general public. Notably, the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill 2026 was sanctioned to simplify the GST framework, particularly aiding exporters and industries through streamlined refund processes and enhanced tax administration.
Additionally, the approval of the Chhattisgarh Value Added Tax (VAT) Amendment Bill included the abolition of the Commercial Tax Tribunal, with pending VAT cases set to be expedited through transfer to the Revenue Board post-GST implementation.
To foster industrial growth, the Cabinet greenlit the Chhattisgarh Industrial Investment Promotion Bill 2026 and the Chhattisgarh Ease of Doing Business (Simplification and Facilitation) Bill 2026. The latter introduces innovative provisions like deemed permissions and self-certification, positioning Chhattisgarh as a pioneer in transparent investment processes and industrial advancement.
Moreover, the Cabinet endorsed a new electricity payment system by the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company, transitioning to the Direct Debit Mandate (DDM) system for enhanced transparency and security in power supply, aligning with RBI guidelines.
Other notable decisions encompass the Chhattisgarh Private University (Establishment and Operation) Bill 2026 to ensure educational quality, the One Time Settlement Scheme 2026 for Nawa Raipur Atal Nagar plot allottees, amendments in the Water Pollution Act for revised penalties, and updates in the Chhattisgarh Fare Control Act 2011 to streamline tenant-landlord disputes.
Furthermore, land allocation was approved for a modern auditorium in Rajnandgaon and a study on the service conditions of Bastar Fighters.
