The Chhattisgarh Open Golf Championship 2026, a collaboration between the Professional Golf Tour of India (DP World PGTI) and Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister Arun Sao Ji, is set to take place from February 3 to 6 at the Fairway Golf & Lake Resort in Naya Raipur. This event marks the beginning of the 2026 PGTI season and boasts a prize purse of INR 1.5 crore, up from last year’s INR 1 crore. The tournament kicked off with the Pro-Am event on February 1.
The championship will feature 126 professional golfers competing in a four-round, 18-hole stroke-play format. After two rounds, the top 50 players and ties will advance to the next stage. Among the notable Indian participants are Veer Ahlawat, Om Prakash Chouhan, Manu Gandas, Angad Cheema, and Arjun Prasad, alongside 16 foreign professionals from nine countries.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao highlighted the government’s dedication to promoting golf and positioning Chhattisgarh as a hub for national sporting events. He emphasized the positive impact of such tournaments on talent development, tourism, and overall state progress. PGTI President Kapil Dev expressed gratitude for the state’s support and emphasized the role of these events in fostering professional golf and inspiring future players.
Amandeep Johl, CEO of PGTI, praised the success of the first edition and the tournament’s significance in expanding golf beyond traditional centers. He acknowledged the strategic vision to grow the sport across the country, aligning with the Prime Minister’s development goals. The second edition, with increased prize money and enhanced opportunities for players, signifies a promising start to the 2026 PGTI season.
