Eleven police personnel from Chhattisgarh have been chosen for the prestigious President’s Police Medals on Republic Day 2026. These awards consist of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and ten Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM, as per a Union Home Ministry press release. Governor Ramesh Deka will present these honors to the recipients at a special ceremony in the state capital, recognizing their exceptional service in law enforcement and public safety.
Director General of Prisons Himanshu Gupta is set to receive the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, acknowledging his outstanding contributions to correctional administration and prison reforms. Additionally, several senior and field officers will be bestowed with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, recognizing their valuable and dedicated performance in upholding their duties.
The awardees from Chhattisgarh reflect the state’s commitment to security, especially in areas affected by Left Wing Extremism. These officers, hailing from various units including headquarters, armed battalions, and districts, have been commended for their unwavering dedication to maintaining law and order, intelligence operations, and overall excellence in their duties.
