The judicial landscape of Bihar reached a milestone as Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant laid the foundation stone for various infrastructure projects at the Patna High Court. This step is seen as a significant move to enhance judicial infrastructure and modernize the justice delivery system in the state. The projects include an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) building, a multi-level car parking complex, a hospital building, an auditorium, an IT building, residential quarters, and an annexe for the Advocate General’s office.
Justice Surya Kant’s initiative aims to boost efficiency, accessibility, and technological integration within the judiciary. The ADR building is expected to facilitate quicker dispute resolution, easing the burden on courts. Simultaneously, the IT building will advance digital infrastructure and support e-court initiatives. The hospital and parking complex will address logistical challenges faced by judges, lawyers, court staff, and litigants.
The event witnessed the presence of Supreme Court Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Rajesh Bindal, judges from the Patna High Court, senior advocates, and administrative officials. Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court Justice Sudhir Singh also attended the ceremony. The newly-appointed Chief Justice, Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo, participated virtually, emphasizing institutional continuity.
Legal and administrative circles view this as a joint effort between the judiciary and the government to equip the Patna High Court with modern facilities in alignment with contemporary judicial requirements. The expanded infrastructure is anticipated to enhance working conditions, improve access to justice, and boost the efficiency of court proceedings. This initiative reflects a broader vision of strengthening Bihar’s justice system with modern and citizen-friendly infrastructure.
