Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel initiated the ‘Namo Swachhata Abhiyan and Amrutpaan Abhiyan’ in Gujarat to enhance hospital hygiene and maternal and child health. The week-long campaign, starting from July 1 at the Gandhinagar Civil Hospital campus, aims to clean all 11,935 government health institutions in the state. During this period, old furniture, outdated medical equipment, and unnecessary records will be removed, while repairs on damaged infrastructure will be conducted.
The drive underscores the importance of cleanliness as a collective responsibility and a daily habit rather than a one-week event. Patel emphasized the crucial connection between sanitation and public health, urging citizens to maintain cleanliness in public spaces. He highlighted the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare to all sections of society, citing initiatives like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Ayushman Bharat for their positive impact on public health and sanitation.
Patel outlined the objectives of the campaign, focusing on cleaning hospital premises by getting rid of obsolete items and promoting routine cleanliness practices. Additionally, he introduced the Amrutpaan Abhiyan, emphasizing its significance for maternal and child health. The initiative aims to raise awareness about proper nutrition for children, recognizing good health as the cornerstone of a healthy society and nation.
