Chief Minister Mohan Yadav hailed the Jalood Solar Power Plant in Khargone as a significant achievement for the nation, emphasizing its role in promoting clean energy and public involvement in Madhya Pradesh. The 60-megawatt solar plant, located near Maheshwar in Khargone district, was inaugurated under a Public-Private Partnership model, costing approximately Rs 271 crore. This project, financed through Green Bonds, allows direct citizen investment, marking a unique collaboration between the government and the public.
Yadav highlighted the innovative Green Bond Scheme, which enables citizens to become stakeholders in the project by purchasing bonds. He mentioned that this initiative, the first of its kind, is a testament to Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions. The Chief Minister outlined the investment benefits, explaining that individuals can buy up to 10 bonds worth Rs 1 lakh each, offering an annual return of around 8% for 20 years. Additionally, he noted the flexibility of this investment option, as the bonds can be sold if necessary.
The Chief Minister underscored the dual advantages of the project, emphasizing its contribution to power generation and environmental conservation. He praised the plant as a leading example of green energy practices, emphasizing its financial viability. Yadav projected that the project’s costs would be recovered within a decade, following which it would generate profits. Furthermore, he mentioned that the plant would supply electricity to the Indore Municipal Corporation, aiding in the reduction of carbon emissions.
