Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is set to inaugurate the ‘Mahakal Van Mela,’ a five-day Forest Department exhibition, in the religious city of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on February 11. The event will take place at the Dussehra ground in Sethi Nagar. During the inauguration, the Chief Minister will also unveil the ‘Mahakal Smriti Gift’ by the MFP Park.
The Forest Department will introduce a new initiative called ‘Mahakal Van Prasadam’ during the event, as announced by the Chief Minister’s office. The ‘Mahakal Van Mela,’ themed ‘prosperous forests, happy people,’ will run from February 11 to February 16. This marks the first time a Van Mela is being organized in Ujjain, known for its religious significance.
The purpose of the Van Mela is to promote the exhibition, conservation, processing, and marketing of non-timber forest produce gathered by forest dwellers across the state. Various stakeholders, including collectors of non-timber forest produce, Van Dhan Kendras, and representatives from herbal and Ayurvedic industries, will participate in the event to showcase and sell their products.
Facilities such as a kids’ zone, wheelchairs, golf carts, seating areas, water points, and selfie spots will be available for visitors at the fair. The event will also include buyer-seller meetings, free medical consultations by Ayurvedic doctors, cultural programs, and traditional food offerings. Special attractions will feature a cheetah family and dinosaur sculptures, dedicated services for senior citizens, and a fun kids’ zone.
During the event, the Chief Minister will honor Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs), the Managing Director of District Union South Panna, and Forest Guards with certificates of appreciation.
