Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, during a police administration meeting, emphasized that loudspeakers at religious sites and events must adhere to permissible volume levels. He warned of strict police action if these limits are breached.
Adhikari, overseeing state administration changes, is introducing new regulations for smoother operations across various sectors. He specifically directed police to ensure compliance with volume restrictions for loudspeakers at religious venues.
According to the National Green Tribunal, the permissible sound level for loudspeakers in residential areas is capped at 55 decibels. Adhikari’s instructions aim to prevent noise pollution and maintain order during religious functions and festivals.
The Chief Minister’s focus on enforcing these rules comes after the recent government transition in the state. Adhikari’s meeting with state police officials at Nabanna involved clear directives on controlling sound levels at religious places to uphold legal standards.
Instances of loudspeakers exceeding permissible limits, especially during festivals, have led to disruptions for local residents. Adhikari’s proactive measures seek to address these issues and ensure a peaceful coexistence in communities.
