Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi encouraged students in Odisha to develop their skills in various fields to be ready for the industry and secure employment within the state. Speaking at the Odisha Skills Competition 2025-26 closing ceremony, Majhi emphasized the ongoing industrialization in Odisha, highlighting the potential for local employment if individuals acquire skills. He stressed the importance of skills in driving sustainable development and economic growth in the state.
Majhi expressed that a skilled and confident youth population can pave the way for a prosperous future, aligning with the vision of a ‘Sammrudha Odisha’ by 2036 and a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. He outlined the key pillars of the state’s industrialization strategy, including infrastructure development, creating a conducive environment for industries, and promoting skill development. The government aims to bolster the industrial ecosystem in Odisha by focusing on these areas.
The Chief Minister highlighted the approval of projects worth Rs 6.15 lakh crore over the past 18 months, expected to generate employment opportunities for 3.64 lakh individuals. He also announced the approval of the Utkarsh ITI Scheme by the state Cabinet, aiming to upgrade 47 ITIs to Centers of Excellence with enhanced infrastructure and advanced skill-based training facilities. Furthermore, the establishment of AI laboratories in nine ITIs across the state will promote skill development in artificial intelligence.
