The English version of Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan’s book in Malayalam, ‘Adam Nee Evide Aakunnu? (Adam, Where Are You?)’, is eagerly awaited after the Malayalam edition sold over 10,000 copies within weeks of its release. The book, a compilation of Satheesan’s speeches from his time as Leader of Opposition at Christian church events, has become a notable non-fiction success. The publisher expects the English release to attract a broader national audience.
Published by D.C. Books on May 8, the book arrived in the market following the Congress-led UDF’s victory in the Assembly elections, ending the Left government’s decade-long rule under Pinarayi Vijayan. Amid discussions within the Congress on UDF leadership, V.D. Satheesan emerged as the Chief Minister choice after consultations.
Since assuming office, Satheesan’s public engagements and approach to media interactions have sparked interest. The anticipation around the new Chief Minister has translated into high demand for his book, with over 10,000 copies sold. The English edition, set for release in July, is expected to further broaden its readership.
Publisher Ravi D.C. noted a daily sale of around 250 copies through D.C. Books outlets, with positive feedback from readers. The book, featuring 32 chapters of Satheesan’s speeches at various church gatherings, includes a foreword by former Mahatma Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Cyriac Thomas. Notably, the title ‘Adam, Where Are You?’ originates from a viral speech by Satheesan.
